Following the successful provision of unique external Anomaly Screens for thousands of schools in the UK, Anomaly has expanded   a brand new division. In this blog post, we’re looking at Anomaly Hi-Vis, our construction solution which has changed the construction industry over the past 6 months. We’re going to be exploring what we’ve been up to, we’re proud of what we’ve achieved in such a short amount of time and we want to share that with you. Much similar to our existing service, in addition to installing our famous Anomaly screens in schools, we have now branched out to meet the needs of the construction industry with 28 sites currently installed nationwide. Anomaly Hi-Vis digital freestanding pods deliver up-to-the-minute health and safety content to an entire work force to reduce unforeseen charges from the HSE or internal inspectors whilst improving day to day communication on site. Northern Hub Alliance hi-vis One of our flagship sites is part of a major railway upgrade in conjunction with Skanska, BAM, AmeySersa, Siemens and Network Rail.  We’re proud to say that we have installed 5 external portrait screens across the various compounds that make up the project. In addition to these portrait screens, we also have 2 internal screens in reception and the canteen. Since having the screens installed the site has seen a drastic improvement on attentiveness and attitude towards health and safety, whilst improving communication between the various partners involved. They are also able to use the external pods to communicate with the public about the upgrades and how they will benefit the region. Balfour Beatty hi-vis After making a solid impression on the construction industry, we’ve attracted some of the top names in the business. Industry leader Balfour Beatty has Anomaly Hi-Vis digital H&S pods installed on one of their high profile highways projects.   Willmott Dixon Birmingham-Uni We pride ourselves on the fact that we can deliver a high quality service to the best in the business. Wilmott Dixon soon discovered that they needed Anomaly Hi-Vis on their sites and we have installed our system on a number of Willmott Dixon Construction and Housing projects across the country. An Operations Manager at Willmott Dixon said: “This truly is a great way of delivering quick and accurate information to the workforce and the general public using state of the art technology. Aside from publishing general project information to the public and health, safety and welfare information to our operatives, we are able to publish weather alerts and daily site traffic movements etc, instantly to all concerned. Having this kit installed has made communication easier and quicker.” hi-vis Berkeley Homes hi-vis Anomaly Hi-Vis is also prominent across many high profile developments in London areas through our work with the Berkeley Group. Combinations of internal and external freestanding screens have been installed to suit varying needs on each site. Berkeley Group are also using the pods as a marketing tool to showcase their properties to a wider audience whilst maintaining their strong corporate image. Interserve Glenfields-Photo-Small Interserve are using Anomaly Hi-Vis on a high profile hospital project to improve on site health and safety and also broadcast information directly from their client to the general public. The Anomaly team worked hard to produce a screen layout and series of content consistent with their company branding to ensure that all health and safety instructions adhere to their policies. We also installed an internal system in the staff canteen and using our wealth of experience in the health sector we were able to schedule men’s health and wellbeing content from our archives during lunchtime. With schools winding down for summer this week we understand that students may be on social media or apps more during their time off, so in this blog post we’re looking at 3 simple tips to keep safe online. The tips are expertly crafted to ensure that you keep safe whilst using apps this summer. Understanding online abuse Understanding online abuse is key to ensuring it’s prevented in the future. Online abuse is any type of abuse that happens on the web, with the use of apps or any type of media that has access to the internet. Children and young people encounter “cyber bullying” all the time, with reports saying at least 1 in 4 children are affected. Ensuring that children are well informed of the dangers online is essential to reducing the risk of cyber bullying. Although it may seem impossible to reduce cyber bullying, there are a few steps pupils can take to prevent it from happening. With that said, cyber bullying is still a common problem but it’s important to encourage children to ignore people who may say hurtful things online. Make sure they know how they can block someone or how to make their profile private. Encourage children to speak to an adult they trust if someone is sending them hurtful messages. Keep safe online After understanding different platforms where online abuse can happen it’s important to make sure that you are keeping safe online. You should keep up to date with the latest trends and news in technology. For example, recently a popular app called Pokemon GO launched in the UK. Whilst this is exciting and encourages exercise, it now opens up new opportunities for potentially dangerous situations to arise. Encourage students to be wary of people they don’t know trying to contact them and asking to meet up. Students should tell an adult they trust if this happens to them. In this blog post, discover behind the scenes for an average Anomaly Film session. Anomaly Film is a service from Anomaly which encapsulates students with the use of video in the classroom. Anomaly Film utilises green screen technology to allow students to create high quality video which is relevant to the curriculum. Hundreds of schools in the UK have already begun utilising video, so what are you waiting for? Following the success of Anomaly Film we decided to ask our lead designer, Nicola Ball, to say a few words about the service, here’s what Nicola had to say. How does it help?  “I think the main benefit I’ve seen is the ability to improve pupil engagement in subjects they might not necessarily be interested in. Some pupils prefer to take a more active approach to learning and be more hands on, Anomaly Film helps with them. For example if the subject was in a book or looking on a computer the student may not be as interested but Anomaly Film offers a different dimension.” What can schools expect from a typical film day? “I think the best way to describe it would be interesting! Some days it can go to plan but others it can be organised chaos in the best way possible. The trainers go through each piece of the Anomaly Film kit, showing how it works and how to its put together. The ultimate goal is to allow the students to fully utilise the kit on their own as the kit is designed for them. Usually the schools are very enthusiastic about what they are going to film that day and the trainer will be able to guide the pupils and allow them to create high quality video. After they’ve done this the trainer will take the footage to show the pupils what they’ve done and show them how to use the editing software.” What can schools use the film kit for? “I’ve seen a whole host of different uses, the most obvious use is probably as a school news report by the pupils but I’ve seen schools utilise the kit in so many different ways, all of which are relevant to the curriculum. A popular option seems to be a Harry Potter theme where the green screen is used to make pupils fly on a broom! There are so many options that incorporate every subject, the list is endless really.” What support is there for schools? “The initial support is usually arranged straight after the school has received the kit and offer a project day a term, should one of our schools require help with a big idea. We do however offer continuous support for schools should they struggle with the kit at any point. We also have a lot of resources on our blog for ideas on what the school could do with the kit.” If you would like to incorporate any Anomaly technology into your school, or find out more about our vast range of services in the education sector please do not hesitate to call us on 0844 579 0880 or alternatively you can email us on the usual address info@anomalygroup.co.uk Twitter | Facebook

As we mark a special occasion as the #StandUpToBullying campaign is launched, we’ve compiled a comprehensive list of facts about bullying in addition to tips to prevent bullying at your school. Bullying is a subject which Anomaly takes very seriously. Discover more in this blog post as we look at the struggles of dealing with bullying in school.

In addition to our top tips, we also have videos which aid teachers and parents in helping young people deal with bullying. Sometimes young people don’t realise when they are bullying someone or being bullied. This could then lead to a lack of understanding of what is wrong with certain situations. Encouraging engagement between children and parents should be a top priority. If children say that they are experiencing persistent name calling or teasing, which is making them upset, this is a form of bullying.

It’s important to express to children what bullying is and how this can happen. It is important to encourage young people to speak up when they are feeling down as there may be a cause to the problem that they are facing. Below you will find a video that was produced by Anomaly in relation to bullying and how you can prevent it from happening in your school. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ueUAqk8r-yo

Anomaly takes bullying very seriously and this is why we have custom content which aims to help young people in schools.
