Latest news:

You NEED to read this before you use your Sport Premium

In this blog post Anomaly are focusing the exciting developments regarding Anomaly equipment and the Sport Premium. Most schools with primary-age pupils receive the PE and sport premium and because of this we’re writing about all the ways you can utilise this in relation to Anomaly equipment. Keeping active and promoting healthy eating are always top priority at all schools in the UK, at Anomaly we understand the difficulties some schools may face.

How to use the PE and sport premium

Schools must use the funding to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of PE and sport they offer. According to the government website, you should use the premium to make improvements now that will benefit pupils joining the school in future years. This could mean adding to the addition sports material you have in school or bringing in new equipment for pupils to enjoy.

The website explains partially how you could use your funding, so for example you can use your funding to hire a qualified sports coach to work with teachers or provide existing staff with training or resources to help them teach PE and sport more effectively.

How will Anomaly help?

Anomaly is able to help with the sport premium in a number of ways. Instead of hiring someone to come into your school, you’re able to display interactive sports lessons on your Anomaly screens. We’ve been working really hard over the summer to organise partnerships with local organisations to provide some Sport Premium content for our screens in September. The content will feature top professionals demonstrating how to perform different sports activities. The content will be easy for anyone to follow along with regardless of skill level.

In addition to the pre-existing content we have on our screens, schools can also request new content to meet their needs. So for example if you think we should have some more content related to a certain sport, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Encourage digital learning with inspiration from the Olympics

With the Olympics in full flow, why not embrace digital at your school? The Olympics have just started and we’ve been looking at how schools can embrace both the Olympics and Anomaly equipment over summer. In this blog post we’re taking a look at active learning in schools and how schools can use the event to improve activity levels. But how can you use the upcoming tournament to teach key subjects at your school?

Encourage active learning

Encouraging active learning is something we always promote at Anomaly. With every blog post related to keeping healthy we try to suggest to our schools what they can do to ensure they’re promoting an active environment. With the Olympics starting over the weekend, we thought it would be a good idea to talk about the positive impact that exercise can have in school in relation to utilising Anomaly equipment.

It’s important to encourage active learning all year round, especially with the announcement of more funding being allocated in relation to the sports premium for schools. According to the department of education website, with the sports premium, schools with 17 or more pupils receive £8,000 plus £5 per pupil. For an average sized school with 200 pupils, the school will receive around £9,000. Why not use Anomaly equipment to put your additional sport premium to good use to improve the quality of PE? We have a lot of sports content on our screens which can be used to improve the existing sports equipment at your school.

Below you’ll find an example to some of the content that is displayed on our screens which aims to improve activities levels of students in the playground.

As well the content from UK Sports Coaching, we have vast amounts of sports related videos for our schools to enjoy. If you can’t find something that suits your needs, please do not hesitate to give us a call and request some different content.

We’re changing Anomaly Film, you need to see this…

Following the successful provision of unique external Anomaly Screens for thousands of schools in the UK and changing several construction market leaders, we’re now taking a look at a preexisting division at Anomaly. In this blog post, we’re looking at Anomaly Film and the work we will be carrying out over the next couple of weeks. Our approach has changed, we’ve come up with a new solution which aims to improve film studies in schools and introduce a new digital alternative.

Creating film is very popular with a lot of our schools. Anomaly Film offers a complete film kit for schools. Anomaly Film is a film kit which embraces the use of green screen technology. Over the next couple of weeks we’re revamping our support material in addition to creating a brand new website.

Anomaly Film YouTube channel

Over the summer we’ve been looking at some of the challenges that face schools when using digital technology in schools. Over the summer we’ve created a number of videos for our schools to enjoy. These videos are all tutorials which should help schools make the most out of their digital technology. You can expect to see these videos at the back end of August, just before schools go back. From that point, videos will roll out monthly.

In addition to these videos, we’re always happy to help with any problems or queries you may have about the Anomaly system so please do not hesitate to give us a call.

Anomaly Film website

We revamped our current Anomaly Film website at the end of the last year after we had established that schools needed to know more about the service. Our website aimed to inform schools all about the Anomaly Film service in addition to showcasing the achievements of our hundreds of schools who have opted for the service.

A couple months down the line and we realised we needed a revamp of our platform to better showcase the work that our wonderful schools have done. We’re aiming to have the website ready and waiting for schools just before everyone goes back for September.

You won’t believe what Anomaly Hi-Vis have done…

Following the successful provision of unique external Anomaly Screens for thousands of schools in the UK, Anomaly has expanded   a brand new division. In this blog post, we’re looking at Anomaly Hi-Vis, our construction solution which has changed the construction industry over the past 6 months. We’re going to be exploring what we’ve been up to, we’re proud of what we’ve achieved in such a short amount of time and we want to share that with you.

Much similar to our existing service, in addition to installing our famous Anomaly screens in schools, we have now branched out to meet the needs of the construction industry with 28 sites currently installed nationwide. Anomaly Hi-Vis digital freestanding pods deliver up-to-the-minute health and safety content to an entire work force to reduce unforeseen charges from the HSE or internal inspectors whilst improving day to day communication on site.

Northern Hub Alliance

One of our flagship sites is part of a major railway upgrade in conjunction with Skanska, BAM, AmeySersa, Siemens and Network Rail.  We’re proud to say that we have installed 5 external portrait screens across the various compounds that make up the project. In addition to these portrait screens, we also have 2 internal screens in reception and the canteen.

Since having the screens installed the site has seen a drastic improvement on attentiveness and attitude towards health and safety, whilst improving communication between the various partners involved. They are also able to use the external pods to communicate with the public about the upgrades and how they will benefit the region.

Balfour Beatty

After making a solid impression on the construction industry, we’ve attracted some of the top names in the business. Industry leader Balfour Beatty has Anomaly Hi-Vis digital H&S pods installed on one of their high profile highways projects.

3 simple tips keep safe online with Anomaly UK

With schools winding down for summer this week we understand that students may be on social media or apps more during their time off, so in this blog post we’re looking at 3 simple tips to keep safe online. The tips are expertly crafted to ensure that you keep safe whilst using apps this summer.

Understanding online abuse

Understanding online abuse is key to ensuring it’s prevented in the future. Online abuse is any type of abuse that happens on the web, with the use of apps or any type of media that has access to the internet. Children and young people encounter “cyber bullying” all the time, with reports saying at least 1 in 4 children are affected.

Ensuring that children are well informed of the dangers online is essential to reducing the risk of cyber bullying. Although it may seem impossible to reduce cyber bullying, there are a few steps pupils can take to prevent it from happening. With that said, cyber bullying is still a common problem but it’s important to encourage children to ignore people who may say hurtful things online. Make sure they know how they can block someone or how to make their profile private. Encourage children to speak to an adult they trust if someone is sending them hurtful messages.

Keep safe online

After understanding different platforms where online abuse can happen it’s important to make sure that you are keeping safe online. You should keep up to date with the latest trends and news in technology. For example, recently a popular app called Pokemon GO launched in the UK. Whilst this is exciting and encourages exercise, it now opens up new opportunities for potentially dangerous situations to arise. Encourage students to be wary of people they don’t know trying to contact them and asking to meet up. Students should tell an adult they trust if this happens to them.

Anomaly are improving schools with the use of YouTube

Anomaly are improving schools with the use of YouTube. In this blog post, we explore some exciting developments at Anomaly as we re-launch our YouTube channel. After uploading videos for a couple of months now, we thought it would be better to take a look at the Anomaly YouTube channel and make a few changes. In this blog post, learn more about what’s to come for schools in the UK and the Anomaly YouTube channel.

What’s changing?

After taking a look at our existing network, we’ve been putting a lot of time and effort into improving the channel we already have. Listening to schools and the feedback we receive is something we take very seriously at Anomaly and with this feedback we have devised a 12 month plan for our YouTube which aims to make the life of schools easier with the use of video tutorials.

We understand the voice of all of our schools, some videos that we’ve planned aim to make you a complete expert with Anomaly Film kit. In addition to the full time support that we already offer we have created tutorials for not only the editing side of things, but also the practical aspect, planning, technique and much more.

We’d like to give you a sneak preview of our first video which should be live later this month. Our first video will go in detail on how to put up a green screen in addition to how to pack away a green screen. Having collected feedback from our schools this seems to be one thing that can be tricky for teachers and students.

If you’d like to take a look at our videos already on our YouTube channel you can do so by looking at the video below, the videos aim to improve schools:
