Behind the scenes of an Anomaly Film session

In this blog post, discover behind the scenes for an average Anomaly Film session. Anomaly Film is a service from Anomaly which encapsulates students with the use of video in the classroom. Anomaly Film utilises green screen technology to allow students to create high quality video which is relevant to the curriculum. Hundreds of schools in the UK have already begun utilising video, so what are you waiting for? Following the success of Anomaly Film we decided to ask our lead designer, Nicola Ball, to say a few words about the service, here’s what Nicola had to say. How does it help?  “I think the main benefit I’ve seen is the ability to improve pupil engagement in subjects they might not necessarily be interested in. Some pupils prefer to take a more active approach to learning and be more hands on, Anomaly Film helps with them. For example if the subject was in a book or looking on a computer the student may not be as interested but Anomaly Film offers a different dimension.” What can schools expect from a typical film day? “I think the best way to describe it would be interesting! Some days it can go to plan but others it can be organised chaos in the best way possible. The trainers go through each piece of the Anomaly Film kit, showing how it works and how to its put together. The ultimate goal is to allow the students to fully utilise the kit on their own as the kit is designed for them. Usually the schools are very enthusiastic about what they are going to film that day and the trainer will be able to guide the pupils and allow them to create high quality video. After they’ve done this the trainer will take the footage to show the pupils what they’ve done and show them how to use the editing software.” What can schools use the film kit for? “I’ve seen a whole host of different uses, the most obvious use is probably as a school news report by the pupils but I’ve seen schools utilise the kit in so many different ways, all of which are relevant to the curriculum. A popular option seems to be a Harry Potter theme where the green screen is used to make pupils fly on a broom! There are so many options that incorporate every subject, the list is endless really.” What support is there for schools? “The initial support is usually arranged straight after the school has received the kit and offer a project day a term, should one of our schools require help with a big idea. We do however offer continuous support for schools should they struggle with the kit at any point. We also have a lot of resources on our blog for ideas on what the school could do with the kit.” If you would like to incorporate any Anomaly technology into your school, or find out more about our vast range of services in the education sector please do not hesitate to call us on 0844 579 0880 or alternatively you can email us on the usual address info@anomalygroup.co.uk Twitter | Facebook
